- Do Not Give Your Phone to Strangers
Scammers may approach you on the street with seemingly harmless reasons: they may ask to use your phone to urgently call a relative, order a taxi, or contact someone in an emergency. While your device is in their hands, they may not only make a call but also attempt to access your personal information or banking apps.
If you decide to help someone, do not hand them your phone. Instead, dial the required number yourself and turn on speakerphone while keeping the device with you.
To protect yourself:
• do not give your unlocked phone to strangers;
• do not allow anyone else to open your banking apps or other services containing personal information;
• never share your PINs, passwords, SMS codes, or verification codes;
• if your phone has been out of your control even for a few seconds, check whether any banking apps were opened or security settings were changed.
Remember: a modern smartphone is not only a means of communication but also a gateway to your finances. Do not hand it to strangers, even if their request seems convincing.
